100 Day Challenge #42

I call this one Serengeti, because the motif on the right is African. Wrapping paper, hand drawn stamps, acrylic paint, ink

Some of these designs came from Fast Freehand Fills, Cultural Flair by Dawn Summerall.

100 Day Challenge # 33

So I'm one-third through the challenge! I may revise this one but am still looking at it. I'll post a revision if I do change it.  Acrylic paint, hand drawn stamps, ink.

So I did change the color of the sun motif. I am satisfied with this one.

I make my stamps with cut up styrofoam meat trays. I just draw a design and spread paint with a cosmetic sponge. Wash them off as soon as you use them. They last indefinitely. For ideas, Dawn Summerall has 3 excellent books about different types of freehand fills. Here's my favorite: Fast Freehand Fills Cultural Flair

100 Day Challenge # 24

I feel that this one is going to evolve into something else. When I figure it out, I'll post the "after" image. Acrylic paint, paper towel, colored pencil, chalk.

I already blended the colored pencil a bit. We'll see what happens.

SO, it's the next day and I've gotten 4 responses. One person said it's "tree-like." I've also gotten bird, firefly and Phoenix. I'm going to leave this piece as-is, for that reason. What do you see?

100 Day Challenge # 23

This one is entitled "The Grandfather Clock on the Landing" I printed some circle designs on printmaking paper. Then I looked for circular images. The clock defined the entire concept.

Ephemera, acrylic paint, India ink  The original of this was OK, but after looking at it for a few hours I decided to add more contrast. Here are the before and after photos.

BEFORE

AFTER

Roxanne Padgett wrote a great book about acrylic techniques. In it she shows ways to paint over magazine pages as a substrate. This is one of those. You can see her book on Amazon: Roxanne Padgett

Hand painted papers, vintage book pages, water soluble wax crayon, coffee.

100 Day Challenge # 17

I was frustrated that the photos of this one were hazy. Then I realized that the distressed papers are hazy. This really is what the piece looks like. Hand distressed ephemera, hand painted papers.
